“Bet You Didn’t Know” News - How to Make Your Razor Last Longer

Since I've started to be more aware of the "do's and don'ts" of shaving, not only have my shaves been smoother, but also I've notice my blades have actually lasted me longer. Disposable razor blades are designed to last between 5 - 10 shaves. While people with thicker, and coarser hair may go through their blades quicker, there are some things you can do to make the most out of each razor blade.

Here are some tips to ensure that you too get the the maximum number of shaves out of your blades before having to trade up for a new one.

1) Shave a face ready for the razor! When you hairs are softened from warm water they are easier for the blade to cut. This translates into less trauma to the blades themselves. Shave after the shower or use a warm towel on your face. There are even thermal face scrubs on the market that can help warm the hair and skin to prepare you for shaving.

2) Use your shaving cream/gel. They are designed to allow maximal glide of your razor against the skin and also continues to soften your bristles. Again, this means less work that the blades themselves need to do.

3) Rinse your razor after you shave. This gets rid of hair, shave gel, and dirt left on the blade when you finish. If this is left on the blades for long periods of time, it can damage the blades.

4) Store your blades properly, making sure that they are dry. This may mean leaving the handle upright or in the holder it comes with, provided the area below the blades is open so thy can dry. Over time, moisture can lead to blade dulling and damage.
