Everyone wears a mask for Halloween, but we’re talking about the other kind of face mask -- for your skin. Face masks are typically applied to the skin and worn for about 10 minutes and then rinsed off. With regular use, these treatments can benefit your skin year-round.
There are different types of face masks for various skin types:
Masks for Dry Skin: If you have dry skin, you may benefit from a mask that helps moisturize. Many moisturizing masks contain nourishing and hydrating ingredients, such as oats, honey and milk.
Masks for Oily Skin: Masks designed for oily skin usually contain clay. Clay is found naturally in the earth and can help remove excess oil and clean your pores.
Masks for Sensitive Skin: Many clay masks are also good for sensitive skin because of their soothing effects. Sensitive-skin masks often contain green-tea extracts as well, to decrease inflammation.
Masks for Acne-prone Skin: Patients with acne-prone skin can use masks that get to the root of what causes acne. These masks may contain benzoyl peroxide, which kills the bacteria that can cause pimples, and salicylic acid, which dries out pimples and gets rid of dead skin cells that clog pores.
